What is Battle Dawn Galaxies?
Battle Dawn Galaxies is a new theme for Battle Dawn. Although the structures essentially do the same thing as the ones on Earth, Mars and Fantasy worlds, the map and design of all the units, structures, colonies and outposts are completely new.
How to play
Go to [1] and click the Launch Game button. If you do not have an account, click the New Player button on the login screen. This will allow you to create an account and login. The in game tutorial will help you to get started if you are new to Battle Dawn.
Resources
There are four resources, minerals, gas, energy and workers(,
,
, and
). Minerals are used to make basic units and gas is used to move squads around. Buildings, outposts and advanced units use both minerals and gas. Energy is used for scan operations, as well as for spies, launching nuclear missiles and the ion cannon. Workers collect resources, and are used to build units.
Victory
The theme still maintains the same victory conditions; either capture all ten of the relics, or have the alliance with the highest score at the end of the era. Eras still last the same number of ticks as Earth, Mars and Fantasy worlds.
Units
There are three types of units on Battle Dawn Galaxies. There are three different unit types; Fighters, Frigates, and Cruisers. Fighters are the cheapest unit in the game. They are small and agile, but poorly armed and armoured. However, due to their low cost, they have the advantage of numbers, and a squadron of Fighters can easily take down a Frigate, due to their bonus damage of 25% against Frigates.
Frigates are a medium cost unit. They are not as manoeuvrable as Fighters, but still faster than Cruisers. They exploit this advantage to great effect, and are able to get very close to Cruisers and destroy them from close range, undamaged by Cruisers' Fighter Defence Systems. Due to this, they have 25% bonus damage against Cruisers.
Cruisers are the strongest and slowest units in the game. Their Hardened Shields are difficult to penetrate by many weapons, although they are vulnerable to massed Frigate attacks. Other than that, Cruisers are difficult to beat in battle. They have no bonus damage.
Differences to Earth, Mars and Fantasy worlds
One of the most obvious differences to Earth, Mars and Fantasy is that instead of a number of islands or continents, the map is instead divided by a number of asteroid fields. These are similar to the oceans on Earth, Mars and Fantasy worlds, except for the fact that asteroid fields often contain resource outposts. Additionally, some outposts, as well as the colony screen, are animated. The background of the world changes with each login.
Alliances
An alliance is a group of players who work together in order to become more powerful. Up to 10 players can be in an alliance.
Colonies
Colonies on Battle Dawn Galaxies are a graphical representation of each player. They are where the player builds units, collects resources, and constructs buildings. There are many different types of buildings. Resource collection buildings do exactly as the name suggests; they collect resources. Food production buildings provide food, which leads to workers, who collect resources and can be trained into units. The more workers, the more resources are collected. Buildings can be upgraded on the Buildings Screen. Upgraded resource buildings increase resource production, whilst other kinds of buildings give you access to new units and technologies. Level five of these kinds of buildings give the owner of the colony abilities, such as level five of the Unit Production building, which allows the owner to build and fire nuclear missiles, a weapon capable of massive devastation.
